Awesome.
The bright side: the girls are napping and at least we are spending some quite time together.
That consolation lasts for about two seconds as my car begins to overheat. Hubby pulls over, adds a gallon of water, and we drive off.
Again the car begins to overheat.
We pull into the grocery store. We call a friend for help. We needed to get the car to the shop to see what was wrong and get Hubby's car to take us all home.
We go inside and wait for 30 minutes for a friend to arrive and decide on a game plan. Since our friend's car could not fit all of us and his kids, I would stay behind with Sunshine. Only we realized that Hubby's car needed gas and a possibility of purchasing parts for the car, which meant a trip back to the ranch for cash.
Honestly, this irked me a bit. That's means I'd be waiting for two and a half hours with a baby in a grocery store for him to arrive with his car. And where exactly was I going to nurse the baby? The nasty bathroom!?
Perhaps it was the stress of life, but I protested to the point of an "absolutely not, figure something else out!"
Hubby looked at me mostly compassionately and said, "first world problems."
That immediately softened me. It could be worse. And I'm in a grocery store: at least I won't go hungry.
As for the car, the radiator is busted and the thermostat is out.
Looking back I realize, this wasn't really a big deal. It really was more of an inconvenience than anything. Even the broken down vehicle is really an inconvenience...an expensive one, but an inconvenience.
So many times we "make mountains out of mole hills" which inhibits us from seeing the blessing right in front of us.
Stranded for two and a half hours: I'm spending time with my Sunshine. Broken down vehicle: I have a vehicle to break. Walking for two hours to keep Sunshine content: I have a beautiful baby to fuss over.
What first world problems are you having? What inconveniences are keeping you from enjoying the blessings?
