Fortunately, our recent trip to Houston provided the opportunity to shop at larger toy stores. Mimi (hubby's mom) bought a plush Peppa for her. To say that she loves it is an understatement.
So, when it is time for bed, Peppa comes too. She lay there talking to Peppa making pig noises. And it is because of Peppa that a small victory occurred three nights in a row.
Sweet Pea went to sleep without me.
Now this might not sound like much...especially to those who sleep trained their children differently...but she has always needed me to fall asleep. There has never been a time where she didn't.
I don't want this conversation to be viewed as permission for mommy wars to commence, i.e., cry it out vs. rocking vs. whatever. I believe that every mom needs to do what is best for her child. And each child may not need the same thing. Sweet Pea needed snuggling with her mama. I did what I thought best for her and her personality.
Patience rewarded. She soothed herself to sleep.
Tonight might be a different story. She may fight it. But today I celebrate a victory in the small things.
