Leftover Fries?

Okay, I don't know about you, but I hate throwing away food. Perhaps it is the distant echo of my mother's voice from childhood saying, "there are starving children in Africa." I won't even get into this little phrase...

The point being, I can't just toss food, even if it is a measly spoonful. Truthfully though, there are some foods that just don't eat well the next day: salad with dressing smothered on it, a burger/sandwich soggy from ketchup, or French fries.

I have resigned myself to the fact that I cannot resurrect the withered, dressing suffocated salad or unmoisten the soggy bread, but the fries always bugged me. You can put them in the oven...which is better than the microwave, but they still aren't quite edible.

But then I had an "ah-ha" moment. Cover it with cheese and bacon!

Cheese and bacon makes everything taste better!

So I tried it. I threw them in the oven at 350 until they started to sizzle, but not where they were too hard. Stirred them a bit. Sprinkled generously with cheddar cheese and bacon bits. Put it back in the oven until there was a mound of melted perfection a top the once blah-fries. Pulled it out and served it up with a side of ranch dressing...non-Texan friends trust me on this...everything is better with ranch.

And voila!

How do you spice up leftovers?
